There’s something about Bridgette Amofah –isn’t there? Beautiful, wiry with never ending legs – Ms Amofah is pretty special! As you already know -I love her music [please see past post] and love her style... She is kind of French like... –with her love of bijoux, simple, sexy dresses. I love the eclectic kooky way she puts a humble stripy long sleeve t-shirt under a dressy sparkly dress, the way she wears a cutesy polka dot headscarf with posh vintage frocks –it makes me want to play dress-up .......Where my dressing up box?
***We are under no illusions at Ghana Rising that whilst we are celebrating: the Ghanaian Glitterati, fabulous lifestyles, fashion, beauty, design and all the yummy happenings of the Ghanaian community etc –that many of our fellow Ghanaian brothers and sisters -would have gone to bed with very little food in their stomach last night –and for this we are truly sorry; -and thus we love entrepreneurs like Adwoa Adu, -who have managed to create successful businesses by marrying commerce and development! Ms Adu holds a Masters in Microfinance and after a stint in Japan, returned to Ghana to volunteer as a small business development trainer with Canadian Crossroads International. I first spied uber beautiful Alethea Van Der Puije Quartey at a young fashion designers event [I also meet Eve Abena -the fabulous designer behind ‘All About Eve- Bespoke Couture’ at the same event]. I had just launched my ‘Other Models’ model agency and was truly blown away; –not just by Alethea’s natural exquisite beauty but by her small, 5’9 frame [perfect for high fashion]! I was there with a friend –we approached her and the rest was history –as they say. In high demand – Alethea juggled her studies [she was attending The University of Westminster and studying for BA Hons in Marketing Communications], modelling and went on to win Miss Ghana UK in 2006. Unfortunately my model agency suffered and by the end of 2008 I had to close the agency. I’m sure that Alethea -who is God fearing; incredibly intelligent, poised and destined for a life of fabulous success [you’ll know what I mean when you meet her in person] –is in the marketing/communications/PR industry –right now! Anyway, I hope to catch-up with Ms Van Der Puije Quartey soon -and will keep you posted on what she is up to -right now………x
I know it’s obvious but Austrian born, German-Ghanaian ex model Boris Kodjoe can wear –anything and still look good! Branded one of the "50 Most Beautiful People in the World" by People magazine in 2002 -Actor, activist [he is the president of ‘Sophie's Voice Foundation’ –set up in 2008 in honor of his daughter Sophie who was diagnosed with Spina Bifida at birth] and fashion designer [check out his Ziami label] – Mr Kodjoe can go from fabulously formal in James Bond-esque suites to laidback and preppy in crisp white shirts and jeans combo –with a flat cap….but is truly at his best when accompanied by his beautiful wife -actress Nicole Ari Parker…x http://www.boris-world.com/
When I received a message via facebook from Bill Bedzrah of make-up brand ‘Black's Secret’ to check out the finalists for 'FACE OF BLACK'S SECRET 2010' -well I just couldn't resist! All the finalists are beautiful [please see below], –and Ghana Rising has two favorites -Chantell and ANNETTE [in that order]. They are both naturally beautiful, -with high fashion good looks. Both photograph well; are on-trend editorial wise [with mass globally appeal] -and will be an asset to ‘Black's Secret [Ghana]’....We wish Chantell, Annette and the rest of the girls -well…x
