Black Star: Kate Menson
Congratulations to 23-year-old, Kate Menson from Ghana who won the 2008 M-Net Face of Africa (Nigerian Supermodel, Oluchi Onweagba-Orlandi was the first to win this prestigious modelling competition in 1989) -last November. Discovered in Accra, during a casting in the city -Kate's win comes after -her hard work, determination and focus were finally rewarded. Having -failed to qualified at the 2006 M-Net Face of Africa (the scouts felt Kate needed to tone up and develop her physique -because of her measurements. And desperate to prove to all; that she had what it takes, -Kate spent two years eating healthy and training at the gym. “I’m so happy right now because after having the door closed on me the first time, I did not give up -and worked hard to be what the judges wanted” -announced Kate on being declared winner. As Kate, and -young girls across Africa celebrate this fairytale -I hope that Oluchi’s company, O Model Africa (her contracted model agency) come through for her, and does for Kate's career -what Elite did for Oluchi's. Kate also won $50,000 cash. I am routing for this beautiful and tenacious model.....God Bless you Kate..
