Kesewa and Adwoa Aboah 4 H&M A/W 2010




Its good to see beautiful Kesewa with her older sister, Ghana Rising favourite, model Adwoa Aboah modelling for H&M A/W 2010 ad campaign. I can’t believe I missed this campaign -last year. It was part of H&M’s friendship/love verve and featured the likes of: Waris Dirie and Liya Kebede and Armando Cabral and his brother.

Accra Polo Club Independence Day Cup 2011 Photos…











“In a close game Ham Polo Club beat Accra PC 5.5 to 5 in Sunday's Independence Day Cup. There was a fantastic atmosphere and the game was enjoyed by a large home crowd. Ham Polo Club would like to thank Accra PC for their hospitality. Thanks also go to HPC's sponsor Virgin Atlantic and Accra PC's team sponsor MBG Ltd Ghana. The day was also supported by Porsche and Vodafone.”

FashionMist 2011 - March 26th 2011 from 12pm

Charity event, FashionMist 2011 - is an all new exhibition/fashion show depicting contemporary African fashion scheduled to take place in London on Saturday 26th March 2011. The concept of this event is to impress ethnic garments not only as an ephemeral trend but as part of the Fashion Retail consumer habits. The exhibition is free and runs from 12pm to 5pm. A percentage of all proceeds will go to Global Mamas(http://www.globalmamas.org/) an organisation based in Ghana that empowers women -enabling them to achieve independent through arts and crafts.

Designers showcasing include: Aya Morrisson( USA), Diva Delicious( Ghana), Mina Evans(Ghana) alongside UK designers such as Anita Quansah London, N'kya Designers Ayikai Couture, Kayobi, Yaa Ataa couture bags. I was looking for some in-depth info concerning designers of Ghanaian origin who showed at this years Arise fashion Week in Nigeria when I stumbled across a piece about Mimi Plange, uber new to Ghana Rising’s radar via the Shadders website. Incredibly talented, Mimi Plange designs are coveted by fashion insiders, and American Vogue’s AndrĂ© Leon Talley’s a fan. The above collection is called ‘Scarred Perfection’ and was presented as part of Mimi Plange’s A/W 2011 Presentation at NYFW. June Sarpong, David Adjaye & Dee Poku on Aleim.com

June Sarpong toasts her friend Deb Anderson at a party given by Tamara Mellon and Dee Poku in New York City. Ms. Sarpong is one of the most recognizable faces in British television. She has been the face of Channel 4′s successful morning show strand T4 for the last 8 years.

David Adjaye attends Deborah Anderson’s party hosted by Dee Poku and Tamara Mellon in New York City. Mr. Adjaye is an Architect who has designed the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York and the Nobel Peace Centre in Oslo. He also designed the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington D.C. that will open in 2015.

Ms. Dee Poku and Tamara Mellon hosted a cocktail party for their friend Deborah Anderson in New York City. Ms. Poku is the former head of International Marketing at Paramount Pictures and is the Founder (along with Sara Brown,wife of the former UK Prime Minister) of the WIE Symposium, a conference of Women Inspiring Women, from the fields of politics, philanthropy, media, fashion and the arts.

A Big Congratulations to Menaye Donkor and footballer Sulley Muntari on their happy union

I’ve been hearing rumours for some time about Ghana Rising favourite, model Menaye Donkor and footballer Sulley Muntari getting married. I even stumbled across some photographs of said couple looking very happy at what appeared to be a traditional Ghanaian wedding but as I don’t like to speculate -just left it. Anyway, fast-forward a week and another Ghana Rising favourite, Ghana’s journalist du jour, Ameyaw Debrah -posted a link entitled, ‘World Exclusive: Photos from Sulley Muntari and Menaye Donkor’s traditional wedding’ -onto my face book page.
