Paulina Opoku-Gyimah says: I just stumbled upon the above lovely photograph of politician Samia Nkrumah, former first daughter of Ghana and former president of the USA -Bill Clinton, and it got me thinking!!! This beautiful woman is a fabulous Ambassador for Ghana (I don’t know her politics and don’t particularly care. Honestly, I don’t care for any politics in Ghana. This will only change when I know and understand their polices and they have the money to back up what they say they are going to do –and I see results) –and she’s such an elegant lady who chooses to wear traditional attire, -wouldn’t it be lovely if like Kate Middleton –say, we knew who designs her dresses or which Ghanaian textile mills supplies her traditional wax print cloths??? This would do wonders for the Ghanaian fashion industry -no?

The thing is…. we Ghanaians are missing an opportunity to up our game. I’m sure she uses a designer or seamstress in Ghana –so why don’t we know about them?

Hon. Samia Nkrumah wears tradition wax print cloths, –which of Ghana’s textile mills is designing and printing them??

With the invention of the internet (the best global shop front window for any business) –everything, especially the multi billion pounds fashion industry matters, –and Hon. Samia Nkrumah’s Ghanaian designer(s) or textile supplier(s) –think Michelle Obama and what she is doing for the American fashion industry, -could and should be benefitting Ghana!!!!

As Ghana’s remaining textile mills start to up-their-game, –they need to work with upcoming fashion designers –and dress the few known female Ambassadors of Ghana –and bring much needed attention to Ghana’s budding fashion industry.

Ghana based designers and Ghanaian textile mills should be clambering over themselves to get the ever elegant Hon. Samia Nkrumah, the daughter of Dr Kwame Nkrumah, - Ghana’s first President to wear their designs or wax print cloths.
