"Raffia's was founded in 2013 by Madonna Kendona-Sowah. An avid consumer of all things fashion, she realised that northern Ghanaian textiles didn't feature in mainstream designs. Seeing an opportunity to combine her passion and her training, she founded Raffia. The label showcases beautiful textiles with classy designs for the stylish and socially-conscious woman."

Paulina say: New to Ghana Rising's radar, Madonna Kendona-Sowah's elegant hand-woven fashion label Raffia is as refreshing as it is stylish. Helping to put Bolgatanga, Upper East Region, Ghana -on the map and bringing much needed employment, -team Raffia are an inspiration and must be commended.

The thing is......we've been spoilt by foreigners setting up such positive community impacting ventures in Ghana for some time -that, we ourselves didn't bother, thus, its uber fabulous and refreshing to see one of our own doing the same!!! Raffia is not just the future of African/Ghanaian fashion -but the here and now...

Raffia is, and stand for what fashion labels in Ghana should be all about -right now, sustainable fashion, helping the community and promoting and keeping old traditions -alive. For more info or to order any of the above lovelies visit: http://www.raffiagh.com/
