Paulina Opoku-Gyimah says: A big thanks to Ghana Rising
fave, Blogger Noelle Bonner http://www.fashionfixxation.com/)
for alerting me to Ghanaian supermodel Belinda Baidoo’s upcoming must–go-to-charity-event
with the Witness HOPE Organization..
Promising to be the event-of-the-year, supermodel Belinda
Baidoo’s foundation and Nicholas Frimpong’s Witness HOPE organization have
joined forces to “raise money for the Ohemaa's Care Orphanage.”
“This year the two organizations have partnered to raise
money for each of their respective initiatives, through a fashion show
featuring designs from Belinda Baidoo, and popular up and coming Ghanaian NY
designers, the DPiper Twins. The show will feature some of Africa’s TOP models,
a highlight video describing each of the organizations and the work they’re
doing in Ghana, a one hour Clyde Frazier's sponsored open bar from 7pm to 8pm,
a live auction of beautiful designs from both Belinda and the DPiper Twins, and
10% of the money spent on food during the night will be donated by Clyde
Frazier to both charities!. It's an event you don’t want to miss!”
The Belinda Baidoo foundation was founded to help people
from all walks of life achieve their dreams through grants and mentorship.
Belinda has devoted a lot of her time to attending charitable events and
reaching out to her extensive network to raise funds for worthy causes. Using her name to raise awareness and address
global affairs, philanthropy has become an important part of her life. In 2005
Belinda organized a fashion show in New York to raise money for the Peace and
Love Orphanage in Accra, Ghana. With funds raised going to new clothes, books,
and food for the orphans, it was a wonderful event that helped support many
children in need. The goal of this year’s event will be to raise funds for the
OHEMAA’S CARE Orphanage, as they have personally reached out to Belinda and
asked for help in raising funds to support every day care of their children and
building a new school for the children.
The WitnessHOPE Organization was founded by Nicholas
Frimpong to provide education, mentorship and support in the development of
athletes at the personal, high school, collegiate and professional levels
worldwide. The core values of the organization are: Achievement, Leadership,
Teamwork, Excellence, Attitude, Education and Service. The organization
believes that by instilling these values, they can help children unlock their
potential in all endeavours. Each year W.HOPE puts on athletic programs in the
U.S and Ghana that center around teaching students the importance of Education,
Sports and Health. Two scholarships are given to the best student-athlete each
year, to continue pushing children to achieve in both fields.
The DPiper Twins are arguably New York's hottest young
Ghanaian designers. Twins. Brains. Beauty and talent, these girls have gotten
the attention of media from Rachel Ray to Vogue Japan to WWD, and everything in
between. Selling at the Limelight Marketplace and Patricia Field's, their items
never stay on the shelves for long, selling out season after season. Slowly
building their fashion empire, Chantelle and Danielle have the right recipe,
with the girly, fun, flirty and perfectly African designs!
