I also don’t know if the right Honourable Priscilla Arhin
is the first female mayor of Cape Coast or not, it would be good to know more about

The Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly (CCMA) on Tuesday,
endorsed, Ms. Priscilla Arhin, a tutor of the Academy of Christ the King Senior
High School, as its Chief Executive when she polled 52 out of the 63 valid
votes cast.
Only one person among the 64-member Assembly dissented
with eleven voting against her nomination by the President, John Dramani
Mahama.
A large number of women, who trooped to the CCMA to witness the event, broke out in spontaneous jubilation when the result was announced by the Cape Coast Metro Electoral Officer of the Electoral Commission, Mr. Anthony Nyame.
It was not only the women who sang and danced but indeed,
all the Assembly Members and other staff present.
Earlier, the Regional Minister, Mr. Samuel Sarpong told
the Assembly Members to consider the development of the Metropolis and ensure
that they offer full support to the President’s nominee to push forward the
development of the area.
Ms. Arhin expressed gratitude to the Members for the
confidence reposed in her and pledged that she would not disappoint them but
work to bring about the desired growth they all yearn for the Metropolis.
Ms. Arhin, 45, had been a government appointee of the
Assembly during the last four years as well as the Cape Coast Nursing and
Training Midwifery Boards, as a member.
Present were the Member of Parliament for Cape Coast
North, Mr. Ebo Barton-Odro and the Deputy Central Regional Minister, Mrs.
Queenstar Pokuaa Sawyerr.
